 In May 1967 a small part of south eastern Nigeria declared its independence from the rest of the country as the Republic of Biafra. The new republic was short lived and after some two years of fighting was reintegrated into Nigeria. During its short existance the Bank of Biafra issued two series of banknotes. On offer here is the £1 note from the first series, and the 5 Shillings, 10 Shillings and 1 Pound from the second series. The notes have been very lightly used and are in VF to VF+ condition.
