BANKNOTES FROM BOLIVIA

MODERN BOLIVIAN NOTES
Bolivia 001

Following a period of runaway inflation in the early 1980’s, the Bolivian currency was stabilised and a new series of banknotes was introduced in 1987. The design of the notes was a complete departure from what had gone previously and is still in use to this day. The latest (series G) notes were issued early in 2006 and we can offer the 10, 20 and 50 Bolivianos from this series.

These notes are all in uncirculated condition.
Reference: BOLIVIA 001.
Price £22.50

EARLY BOLIVIAN BANKNOTES
Bolivia 002

In contrast to the above modern notes, these three early notes are of a markedly different design. They are not so easy to find nowadays, but a contact in Bolivia recently sent us through a small selection in various grades of preservation.

The 1 Boliviano and 5 Bolivianos were first issued in 1911 and are a most attractive design printed by the American BankNote Company in New York for the Banco de la Nacion Boliviana. Later, in 1929, the Banco Central de Bolivia assumed responsibility for note issues and the earlier notes were overprinted with the new bank name. An example of the 1 Boliviano overprinted note in included in this set.

We can offer these sets of three notes in either V to VF+ grade or, somewhat more used, in Fine to VF grade.

Reference: Bolivia 002A (VF to VF+) – Price: £17.00 per set.
Reference: Bolivia 002B (Fine to VF) – Price: £10.00 per set.
