BANKNOTES FROM CAMBODIA

CAMBODIAN NOTES BEFORE THE KHMER ROUGE

Cambodia 001

The Cambodian Government was toppled by Khmer Rouge insurgents in 1975. The Khmer Rouge then proceeded to eliminate the economy and create a State without money. The banknotes which had been in circulation became worthless and today are available to collectors at very reasonable prices.

The notes themselves are generally very attractive. A popular illustration is that of the stone ruins which date back about 1000 years to the original Khmer Empire and which can still be seen at Angkor. In addition there are many other representations of Cambodia’s rich history and culture.

We have grouped seven notes here; they range from 1 to 1000 Riels and are all in uncirculated condition. .
