 The People’s Republic of Mozambique in east Africa, has just recently issued a new series of banknotes. The three values we are offering here are the 20, 50 and 100 Meticais. They have a common frontal design showing a portrait of Samora Moises Machel, the first President of Mozambique, and the reverse of each note has a colourful design featuring African animals. Reference: MOZAMBIQUE 001 Price: £15.50 per set.  These earlier notes dated from the time when Mozambique acheived independence from Portugal in 1975. The first note issues of the new Peoples Republic used stock from the Banco Nacional Ultramarino which were overprinted "BANCO DE MOCAMBIQUE".
