 The People’s Republic of Mozambique in east Africa, has just recently issued a new series of banknotes. The three values we are offering here are the 20, 50 and 100 Meticais. They have a common frontal design showing a portrait of Samora Moises Machel, the first President of Mozambique, and the reverse of each note has a colourful design featuring African animals. Reference: MOZAMBIQUE 001 Price: £15.50 per set.  These earlier notes dated from the time when Mozambique acheived independence from Portugal in 1975. The first note issues of the new Peoples Republic used stock from the Banco Nacional Ultramarino which were overprinted "BANCO DE MOCAMBIQUE". We can offer three values of 100, 500 and 1000 Escudos in uncirculated condition. Reference: MOZAMBIQUE 002 Price: £5.00 per set.  The Companhia de Mocambique issued notes locally in the region of Beira, Mozambique during the 1930's. The earliest provisional issue was printed on notes of the Banco de Beira dating from 1919. There is an example of the 5 Libras Esterlinas overprint in this set, it is well used and in VG (Very Good) condition. The other two notes are the 20 Centavos (in UNC condition) and the 5 Libras Esterlinas (in VF+ condition) dated 1934. All of the notes have been cancelled by perforation.
