BANKNOTES FROM SOMALIA

FIVE NOTES FROM SOMALIA

Somalia 001

This set of notes reflects the culture of the east African country of Somalia. The 5 Shilin notes shows a Cape Buffalo herd and banana harvesting on the reverse. Other scenes include Fishermen, Mosques and the Port of the Capital City, Mogadishu.

Interestingly, we are also pleased to include in this selection a N50 Shilin note. This was a currency issued in Mogadishu-North by forces loyal to warlord Ali Mahdi Mohammed as part of a plan to replace older currency.

The set comprises:-
Pick ref. 31c, 5 Shilin, 1987.
Pick ref. 35d, 100 Shilin, 1989.
Pick ref. 36c, 500 Shilin, 1996.
Pick ref. 37b, 1000 Shilin, 1996.
Pick ref. R2, 50 N Shilin, 1991.
The notes are all in uncirculated condition.
